Children’s Dental Insurance
73One of the best gifts a parent can give to his kids are healthy white teeth. The overall oral health condition of children has a direct impact on their activity levels and performance in schools. Hence, the need for getting children’s dental insurance for them. This is an investment that every parent should be thinking about. Each state all over the USA has a particular program for kids coming from low to high income families. Under the Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP), each qualified kids falling under its income requirement bracket, are either covered for free or are given low cost insurance. Among the things not covered by CHIP are braces, dental appliances or sports related mouth protection, orthodontic costs and cosmetic dentistry. Those opting to get children’s dental insurance from private providers may be eligible for tax credits or state funding assistance. With the addition of dental protection to the CHIP, a solution was found in answer to the high barrier to obtaining dental care which affect many Americans.
According to statistics, kids with private or public dental insurance are three to four times more likely to receive oral medical attention as compared to the kids with no dental insurance. With this, we could infer that those kids without dental insurance are most likely to get tooth decay, gum problems, delayed physical development and missed school days due to oral health problems. When the kids are young, it is very important that they get adequate dental health care or else they could be troubled with many health issues in their lifetime.
At the very first birthday of children, a dentist visit is highly recommended so that they’ll be taught good dental hygiene. Although oral hygiene could be taught from home, it is best to take our kids to the dentist for more information and also to check on their teeth condition. Just imagine in their formative years, how many visits they’ll make to the dentist. Also calculate the savings you will make if your kids have children’s dental insurance.
There are actually many options in getting children’s dental insurance. If your insurance in the workplace has a provision for your kid’s dental insurance in it, the better. There may also be state and county level provisions for this and the persons to be contacted are the school nurse or the coordinator of the program. Just watch out for free programs in your respective states or schools. An example of which is what is being done in Colorado where a school based sealant project has been conducted to benefit kids from losing their teeth from tooth decay.
If you opt to get children’s dental insurance through private providers, just make sure to study the policy, ask for quotes from different companies to compare prices and plan coverage. Choose the plan that will best suit your needs. Review the documents well before signing in or buying. Our kids dental health is something that we can’t pass lightly over. By giving our kids the gift of a children’s dental insurance early in life, they will be protected in their battle of avoiding oral disease and infection.

I got my kids dental insurance a little while ago and I think it was a great idea. My oldest son already has braces but I never though to get dental insurance for children at that time which really cost me a lot of money (a 10k mistake lol). Now that I've got dental insurance for kids that I have I can worry about other stuff.
I was glad the other day that I made this good choice. My boys like to ride their bikes a lot, but sometimes they act foolishly and one of them flipped over their handlebars and chipped his tooth so I went and looked at my policy and there it was "chips dental insurance"... It felt like it was Christmas came early this year.
